Dlamini-Zuma is expected to deliver a speech on gender balance in
politics, its role in social change, and the importance of encouraging
female participation.

ADDIS ABABA. African Union (A.U.) Commission Chairperson Nkosazana
Dlamini-Zuma left Addis Ababa on Monday for Kigali, Rwanda to attend
the 2nd "Women in Parliaments" summit slated for July 1-3.

"Women parliamentarians from Africa and around the world are meeting
to exchange ideas and strategies increasing women's numerical presence
in parliaments," an A.U. statement quoted Dlamini-Zuma as saying
before she set out for Kigali.

"Beyond the numbers, we will share lessons and experiences on specific
contributions of women in shaping national policies and programs when
they are in parliament," she added.

Dlamini-Zuma is expected to deliver a speech on gender balance in
politics, its role in social change, and the importance of encouraging
female participation in all fields, the statement said.

Key speakers at the event will include, among others, Rwandan
President Paul Kagame, Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg, and
Silvana Koch-Mehrin, founder of the Women in Parliament Global Forum.

-“The root cause of the Rwandan tragedy of 1994 is the long and past historical ethnic dominance of one minority ethnic group to the other majority ethnic group. Ignoring this reality is giving a black cheque for the Rwandan people’s future and deepening resentment, hostility and hatred between the two groups.”
