Tanzanian President to Participate in AAI Awards Gala
President of Tanzania H.E. Jakaya Kikwete is confirmed to participate in an exclusive "Conversation on Africa's Past, Present and Future" with African Heads of State during AAI's 60th Anniversary Awards Gala on September 25 at the Hilton New York in New York City.
Held during the opening week of the UN General Assembly, the engaging 20-minute conversation will provide a unique opportunity for African leaders to highlight the evolution of Africa's progress , discuss the current situation and share their vision for accelerating the continent's development and socio-economic progress in the future.
"AAI is pleased that Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete will participate in a high-level discussion with African leaders on how far African nations have come since independence, where we are today, and commitments to moving Africa forward into the future," said Amini Kajunju, AAI's President and CEO.
The relationship between AAI and Tanzania has been ongoing since the country's independence. Most recently, President Kikwete accepted the AAI African National Achievement Award on behalf of the People of Tanzania at AAI's Awards Gala in 2007, At that time, AAI paid tribute to the People of Tanzania for the country's significant progress in education, environmental conservation, and in creating a business-friendly environment for entrepreneurs and investment at its Awards Gala in 2007. Tanzania's effort and vision was subsequently highlighted during President Barack Obama's trip to Tanzania this past June.
Other African Heads of State invited to participate in the "Conversation" include Prime Minister of Ethiopia and Chair of the African Union H.E. Hailemariam Desalegn, President of Ghana H.E. John Dramani Mahama, President of Namibia H.E. Hifikepunye Lucas Pohamba; President of Nigeria H.E. Goodluck Jonathan, and President of South Africa H.E. Jacob Zuma.
