The sixth edition of Rwanda Day will bring together thousands of Rwandans living abroad and friends of Rwanda to Atlanta, Georgia. The event will be a celebration of 20 years of liberation (Kwibohora20) and the progress Rwanda has made, as well as a chance to discuss home grown solutions to our challenges as we continue to build a dignified nation.

President Kagame will deliver the keynote address followed by an interactive session with audience members.

This year, Rwanda Day will feature panel discussions on youth employment opportunities as well as discussions on economic self reliance and global dignity. Rwandan artists, including King James, Teta Diana, Alpha, K8 Kavuyo, The Ben, Meddy, Massamba Intore and Sophia Nzayisenga, will join guests in celebrating Rwanda Day. The event will be broadcast live in Rwanda, on TV, radio and onwww.rwandaday.org.

A job fair and an investment exhibition will also take place. The job fair will bring together Rwandans living abroad and employers in Rwanda to network and begin the recruitment process. The expo will showcase Rwandan products as well as opportunities to invest in key sectors such as mining, tourism, tea and coffee, real estate and construction and services.

Umuganura at Rwanda Day: On the night of September 20, a dinner will be held in the spirit of the traditional Rwandan first fruits festival known as Umuganura. Attached to this email is a fact sheet about Umuganura as well as Home Grown Solutions. The evening will end with performances from Rwandan artists living in Rwanda and in North America.

What is the #Twahisemo campaign? To mark Rwanda Day 2014, we are asking Rwandans and Friends of Rwanda to share the choices they are making as they join Rwanda's journey. This campaign echoes President Kagame's speech given to mark Kwibuka20. It is centred on the three choices Rwanda has made over the past twenty years - Staying Together, Being Accountable and Thinking Big. To join the campaign, simply share your choice on social media with the hash tags #RwandaDay and #Twahisemo.

-“The root cause of the Rwandan tragedy of 1994 is the long and past historical ethnic dominance of one minority ethnic group to the other majority ethnic group. Ignoring this reality is giving a black cheque for the Rwandan people’s future and deepening resentment, hostility and hatred between the two groups.”
