Hundreds of illegal immigrants rescued since Friday

(AGI) - Rome, Feb 16 - Landings of illegal immigrants resumed south of
Lampedusa as weather conditions improved, and since early on Friday
572 people have been identified and assisted.
On Saturday 493 migrants from Gambia, Mali, Senegal, Guinea, the
Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone, Congo, Burkina Faso and Sudan, of which 18
were minors, were rescued and 79 people rescued on Friday have now
been moved to a naval vessel. They are expected to disembark in
Augusta on Monday. . .
