And the Secessionists Cry, Freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeedom! While the tyranny of the moron cum president, junta Paul Biya, and the desire for wanton fame have pushed a few fringe elements to the oblivion of secessionism, for a political party like the PAP, it is a toxic mixture of self-pity and self-destruction to suddenly join the seditionist bandwagon. In fact it is political suicide. The PAP like all political parties in Cameroon has no grass-root cause, but like the rest, is a channel for their leaders to extract rents from the public purse through the benevolence of the junta Paul, himself an illegitimate landlord for 31 years. That is why it is easy for the junta to reduce these leaders into political impotence. Whether it is the PAP, SDF or 'QUA QUA QUA,' we have learned that we cannot lean on any of these so called parties; for the French says, on ne s'appuie que sur ce qui résiste ( you can lean only on what offers resistance). To suddenly switch from contesting the national elections to preaching the failed secessionist cause, the PAP is like an animal which is trying to gain limbs at the expense of the body. Wisdom dictates when you try to get the best of both worlds you most often get the worst of both. The suicidal fragmentation of the opposition in Cameroon as a result of junta Biya's successful divide and conquer strategy is primarily responsible for the success of the monster. Any attempt to further divide the people by turning compatriots into enemies in the name of secessionist movements that will take us nowhere is unacceptable. The Cameroon that is feasible is one where Francophone Cameroonians stand shoulder to shoulder with their Anglophone compatriots to fight socially stunted Francophones like junta Paul Biya who are ruining our country and vice-versa.Secessionism has never worked in very high socially heterogeneous country like ours, and the threats posed by these irredentists and secessionists are also very high. That is why as much as I hate the junta, I support his crackdown on these irredentists. While Anglophone Cameroonians has legitimate political grievances, the secessionist claims put forth is too radical. When you are faced to a dictatorial regime like Biya's the aggrieved regions should begin with moderate claims and only up the ante when they have significant local and external support. In joining the beleaguered secessionist bandwagon, the PAP has taken itself out of mainstream Cameroonian politics, and thus, is declared dead-on-arrival.Augustine Agbor EnowThe outcome of my life is not more than three lines:
I was a raw material
I became mature and cooked
And I was burned into nothingness.
